Spring Classic Show and Sale
The Kentucky Red Poll Association hosted it’s annual Spring Classic Show and Sale March 6 and 7 2020 at the Kentucky Beef Expo. The Grand Champion Bull was DFM Shamrock 217198 exhibited by McCall Show Cattle followed close behind by the Reserve Champion Bull, JF Titan 217032 shown by Jackson Farms. Koch Family Farms brought the Champion Heifer, Koch’s Daisy. Double T Farms took Reserve Champion Heifer with DT Dixie. Top honors in penned cattle went to Emily Koch with her heifer, Koch’s Adeline.
Twenty head of cattle were sold following the show and included these champions as well as other ﬁne cattle. Additional exhibitors and consignors were Miller Family Farms, Shuter Sunset Farm and Doll’s Red Polls. Thanks to all who brought their cattle to this event.

Indiana State Fair oﬀers 2 separate events for Red Poll breeders. The 4H show will take place August 5 thru 9 with entries due June 1. The Red Poll open show will take place Aug. 12 with entries due July 1. As the show approaches, Red Poll breed managers Jim Jackson and Gordon Jackson will have more information. Kentucky State Fair will feature an open Red Poll show. The schedule had not been ﬁnalized but will probably be the weekend of August 30 with entries due July 10. Details will be released as they become available.
National Meeting and Sale will take place Oct. 8, 9 and 10 at Murray State University Expo Center in Murray KY. Committee chairperson Jan Belyew 731-693-9746.
ARPA board met March 6 in Louisville KY. A preliminary working budget was presented by the president, David McCall, and also at the president’s recommendation, a new ﬁnance committee was formed. The next board meeting will take place in Richmond IN July 11.

The Membership Committee chaired by Chet Miller has made a call for registration of yearlings and mature cattle. Fullblood or Red Poll Plus cattle, which are one year old or older by May 1, can be registered for $10.00 each from May 1 through July 31 of this year. In these troubling times, the ARPA board and committees are remaining optimistic in planning meetings and events. Of course, things may change as the future is uncertain right now. We want to maintain the association and move forward.
